Local Color NYC is a pop up shop housed in a retrofitted delivery truck. The goal of the boutique is to feature and promote local arts, designers, and American Made businesses. We believe that shopping local should be fun, easy, and accessible. The Local Color Truck parks in various places around NYC including street fairs, flea markets, and curbside. Being mobile allows Local Color NYC to easily reach its customers, both local New Yorkers and visitors alike. Locals love supporting their neighbors and buying special merchandise they can’t find anywhere else. Visitors enjoy shopping for unique mementos that are actually made in New York City.
Christine Lynch, founder and operator of Local Color NYC, has been a "hands on" girl since childhood. At the age of 11, she joined the local 4-H sewing club, and her love of sewing, fashion, and crafting took off. Through junior high and high school, Christine kept busy with art and sewing, and continued to college to earn a degree in Fashion Design. Since earning her degree, Christine has spent many years working for a national retailer designing women’s apparel and freelancing all over the region. In 2009 Christine found herself wanting something more and started an independent tee shirt line that was sold on etsy.com, and in 2013 became a vendor at flea markets around NYC. Christine loved the community of artists and designers that came to vend together at the various markets and knew she did not want to return to being a corporate designer. Christine has become passionate about Shopping Local and quality products made in the USA. She hopes Local Color NYC will be more than just a boutique, but be part of a larger cause bringing independent businesses to the forefront of New York City.
